Implementation of a European project for the treatment of patients with Fanconi’s Anemia through gene therapy. -28 January has started its journey a project financed by the seventh program framework of the European Union for hematologic patients with Fanconi anemia treatment -EUROFANCOLEN is the name of the European consortium that will develop this project; this consortium will bring together experts in the research and treatment of Fanconi’s anemia. The Consortium will be coordinated by Dr. Juan a.. Bueren, CIEMAT and researcher of the center of biomedical research in network for rare diseases (CIBERER) Madrid, January of 2013- Monday, January 28, has begun a new project funded by the seventh program framework of the European Union for the treatment of hematologic problem of patients with Fanconi’s anemia through correction the genetic defect in the stem cells from the bone marrow of patients. The project has failed to put in place thanks to the effort spent more than ten years of preclinical and clinical research. Barcelona, January 2013.- after a long history of collaboration between three research groups of the UB, CSIC and UAB in interference (siRNA) nucleic acids research, found the solution in inhibiting, among others, genes involved in inflammatory diseases, such as e.g. those related to the action of the Factor of Tumor Necrosis (TNF-alpha). As result of this project in 2010 applied for a patent that has been recently licensed the company Janus Developments SL the results obtained so far do foresee that, in the long term, these products could be useful in the treatment of diseases such as Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis, asthma, psoriasis and even some types of oncological diseases inflammatory.
