To welcome to this week of the heart, cardiac rehabilitation of Policlínica Gipuzkoa service, led by Dr. Eduardo Alegría, has organized a heart March that took place last Sunday, November 13, from Bera de Bidasoa until mount La’run (La M). The output has been at 10 a.m. in the Bera Alzate square. The route has been around 6 kilometers. From Piazza Bera Alzate they moved by car until Landagaitia, peak from which ascended to the Summit of La’run, representing a drop of about 500 meters. In Gipuzkoa, each year around 500 people they are operated from the heart and more than 2,000 require the completion of a cardiac catheterization. Heart diseases are the leading cause of death in the European Union and the prevalence of myocardial infarction at the age of 65 European continues to increase, according to the Spanish Heart Foundation. In Spain a 32.5% of all deaths are related to cardiovascular diseases, resulting in Gipuzkoa around 2,000 people they die from these causes.

This high incidence could be reduced significantly through healthy habits to prevent cardiovascular disorders. Hence the importance of initiatives such as the week of the heart or the heart March that contribute to raise awareness of the importance of exercise, eat a balanced and avoid habits such as smoking or sedentary lifestyle, among others.

During the week of the heart answers many questions that are usually those suffering from heart, since that can be raised questions at the end of each talk, a medical specialist who has taught.

Questions like when starting to exercise after surgery of heart with what intensity, what to do when the heart begins to beat without controls, when to start having sex on a regular basis and without risk after a cardiovascular episode, doubts about the new anticoagulants and the possibility of that will replace the Sintrom, and so on.
