AENOR gives quality certificates in 12 community hospitals management

TOLEDO, 15 (EUROPA PRESS)

La Asociación Española de Normalización y Certificación (AENOR) has delivered Tuesday of 12 quality certificates to other many hospitals in the region, in a ceremony carried out at the headquarters of the health service of Castilla – La Mancha in Toledo.

On the one hand, ten centers have received the certificate of quality ISO 9001-2008 in recognition of their services have a management system that meets the criteria of quality.

Centres that have obtained this certification have been, on the one hand, three services of laboratories for clinical analysis, hematology and mocrobiología, in particular those of the Complejo Hospitalario de Toledo in the Hospital of paraplegics and the Hospital of Puertollano (Ciudad Real).

Also have been awarded this distinction the radiology services of the Hospital in Albacete, Hellin, Talavera de la Reina, Manzanares and Valdepeñas (Ciudad Real).

Other two creditors of this recognition were the areas of management of the Hospital in Albacete and Hospital in Ciudad Real.

Certificate ISO 140000

AENOR has made delivery of the certificate ISO 140000 to Hospital in Ciudad Real, attesting to comply with the rule that is focused to any organization that is seeking to reduce impacts on the environment and comply with environmental legislation.

Finally, Hellín Hospital has in addition the label EFMQ’s commitment to excellence, which structure the system of management of the Organization and can be used as a tool of diagnosis, providing a framework for measurement or to compare with the other.

The Minister of health and Social Affairs, who presided over the ceremony of delivery of certificates, pointed out that these distinctions “are a source of pride for the regional government” and shows “that things are being very reasonable”.

For its part, the director general of AENOE, Avelino Brito, has stressed the importance of “the quality of the management of these centres” that has made them worthy of these certificates, because the quality of the health service “depends not only on the training of staff, motivation or equipment” and management “is very important,”.

Chicago, November 2011- Bioiberica Farma has submitted last Wednesday a new clinical trial to continue providing evidence of the efficacy and safety of the combination of chondroitin sulfate and Glucosamine in the treatment of moderate to severe in patients with osteoarthritis of knee pain.

The Studio MOVES (Multicenter Osteoarthrits InterVEntion trial with Sysadoas) is designed according to standards of good clinical practice, current legislation and regulations for the investigation of drugs in osteoarthritis. Consists of a clinical trial phase IV, multicenter, randomized, of non inferiority and parallel groups, double blind and controlled, six-month duration. includes 560 participants with arthrosis of knee primary and moderate to severe pain of Spain, Germany, France and Poland. Patients will receive 1200mg chondroitin sulfate and 1500 mg of Glucosamine per day hydrochloride, or 200 mg of an anti-inflammatory. The main evaluation criteria will be the reduction of the pain of the patient with respect to the start in the subscale WOMAC, after six months of treatment. Security settings will also be registered. Supervision of this clinical trial has been established a Scientific Committee consisting of national and international specialists of recognised prestige. In total, 37 centres participating in the study of which 14 are Spanish. The MOVES already is currently in phase of recruitment of patients.

The presentation of the clinical trial has been carried out by Professor Marc c Hochberg, head of the Division of Rheumatology and Immunology clinic of the University of Maryland (United States), at the annual Congress of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), held these days in Chicago and in which participated 15,000 rheumatologists.

Professor Hochberg has pointed out that the treatment of patients with osteoarthritis of knee with moderate to severe pain includes the use of different modalities not pharmacological as well as agents pharmacological, which include anti-inflammatory non drugs (NSAIDs), analgesics, therapies intrarticulares and symptomatic slow acting for osteoarthritis (chondroitin) drugs(Glucosamine and diacerein).

His presentation focused on the data of efficacy and safety of the combination of chondroitin sulfate and Glucosamine and has particularly stressed the results of the study GAIT (Glucosamine/Chondroitin Arthritis Intervention Trial). This study found that patients with moderate to severe pain treated with such a combination had a statistically significant placebo effect in the main assessment parameter (20% reduction in pain on the WOMAC scale) as well as in the majority of secondary parameters evaluated. Precisely the results of this study were that led to the Organization of the clinical trial MOVES which was submitted last Wednesday.

The Medical Director and scientist of Bioiberica Farma, Dr. Josep Vergés, clinical pharmacologist, has stated the importance of this study as “ positive results will serve to continue providing evidence on the effectiveness of these drugs, as well as additional information to compare the safety and tolerability of treatments for arthrosis ”.

Barcelona, November 2011- last call for INNPACTO of the Ministry of science and innovation projects, has resolved favourably the implementation of project KIT-Alzheimer’s disease, a proposal for innovative court in the diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases, which puts to work to the industry of sensors for the automotive industry with groups and companies that dedicate their efforts to research in the biomedical field and systems for clinical diagnosis.

The KIT-ALZHEIMER project has as its main goal the construction of a device for the early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, as well as the monitoring of the effectiveness of potential therapies for it. “ In most cases, the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease is carried out in late stages when the cognitive and clinical symptoms are noticeable. The recovery of the dead neurons is almost impossible and can only be slow neuronal death from the rest ” points the DRA. Pillar framework, project researcher and head of the Group of nanotechnology and BioMolecular diagnosis from the Institute of advanced chemistry of Catalonia (IQAC-CSIC) and the biomedical research centre in network of Bioengineering, biomaterials and nanomedicine, CIBER-BBN.

The project will use the latest developments in the field of nanomedicine, with the purpose of building a diagnostic equipment in vitro, easily installable in consultation, dispensary or room of Neurology, and in different work environments. According to Francisco Ramos, of the automobile FAE: “ we will use our extensive experience in the production of sensors, now applied to health ”. To do so, the team of the company’s electronic spare parts for car, project coordinator, will work jointly with the Group’s chemical transducers of the National Center for Micoelectrónica of the CSIC (IMB-CNM-CSIC), responsible for the design and development, together with the NBD (IQAC, CIBER-BBN) group, the system biosensor which will be implemented, with the manufacturing technology of AEDs, so that later it can carry out their production.

Thrombotargets Europe, will be of relevance to the project partners, the company responsible for producing the bioreactivos Kit features improved on type ELISA kits (technique for the detection of antibodies or antigens through the use of enzymes). “ To reach this phase successfully, will cooperate closely with the Group of the DRA. Pilar Marco, with its extensive scientific experience in the field of chemistry and antibodies, for the development of these and especially for the functionalisation with them of effectively sensing surfaces ”, stresses Juan Ramón Rodríguez of Thrombotargets.

Finally, the Group of Prof. Juan Daniel Prades García, of the University of Barcelona, will be responsible for developing the electronic technology for the automated functioning of the device. This group work, also with AEDs in the part of the project associated with the automation of the processing of the sample and the realization of the bioassay in a fluidic device integrated system.

Project Kit Alzheimer

Progress on the early diagnosis is a priority in the field of neurodegenerative diseases. In the case of Alzheimer’s disease, therapeutic strategies and existing drugs today, try preserving the still living cells, however when cognitive symptoms manifest themselves, the neuronal destruction is already excessive and safeguard these cells already is not enough. It is essential to systems of diagnostics that they can blow the whistle at early phases of the disease, when the neuronal destruction is still not very relevant. In the context of the year in Alzheimer’s research, they have given to many initiatives that have that purpose, while for the most part they are based on developing diagnostic systems for image, either by magnetic resonance imaging or Positron tomography.

Thanks to the great effort of biomedical research, it has a set of biomarkers that enable tracing and set the State of the disease from very early stages. This gives a clear expectation to the development of effective therapeutic strategies for a pathology of major impact: more than 25 million people suffer from the disease; It is the most common cause of dementia in Western countries and their proportion is increasing with the increasing life expectancy of the population.

The prospects for developing simple diagnosis systems based on the detection and quantification of biomarkers associated with neurodegenerative diseases using biosensors (instruments for measuring chemical and/or biological parameters that combine a component of a biological nature with a physical sensor) are very good because, among other factors, more and more known adequate biomarkers that may be of interest to the diagnosis, rather than cognitive symptoms occur.

In particular, in the case of Alzheimer’s disease, a set of four biomarkers, generally accepted in clinical practice, to determine the State of the disease and its progression from the early asymptomatic stages is now known. Early detection of these biomarkers using biosensors systems allows diagnosis and follow-up of the treatments in the consultation or the Neurology Clinic, which will improve prospects for treatment and disease progression.

The use of biosensors is one of the systems for the detection of biomarkers, oriented to the diagnostic medical marked the future of clinical practice not only at the level of diagnosis of diseases but also in the personalization of therapies to apply. In this line, the Group of the IMB-CSIC and NBDg-CIBER-BBN have developed a device which presents improved sensitivity characteristics and which has demonstrated its potential for detection and quantification selective biomarkers and other chemical compounds that may exist in the sample to be analyzed. The project Kit-Alzheimer’s will be the first implementation of such a system sensor for a clinical problem which then can spread to many other cases with only to have the appropriate bioreactivos kit.

The INNPACTO call finances projects in public-private cooperation between research organisations and enterprises, to carry out r & d projects, exploitable products based on demand-oriented. These projects are intended to create innovative enterprises, guiding the activity of companies already existing towards innovative activity, to mobilize private investment, generate employment and improve the technological balance of the country.

CIBER-BBN

The center of biomedical research in bioengineering, biomaterials and nanomedicine, CIBER-BBN network consists of 49 research groups, which now form a multidisciplinary group of experts. It is one of nine consortia Cyber existing in Spain, whose creation has been led by the Institute of health Carlos III (ISCIII), belonging to the Ministry of science and innovation, with the aim of encouraging research excellence and critical mass of researchers in the fields of biomedicinethe health sciences and related areas. One of the purposes of the Center is the contact to the industry with research groups working in the same areas and they have common interests. Fruit of the efforts of the Centre in the field of industrial transfer and collaboration, CIBER-BBN will participate in two projects of the programme INNPACTO: Kit Alzheimer’s and NANOCARDIOCOCO.

Spain, November of 2011- the Counselor of health, Social Welfare and family of the Government of Aragon, Ricardo Oliván, opened last Thursday the XXV Congress Aragonese for primary careorganised by the Aragonese Federation of trade unions and associations of physicians and primary care (FASAMET). The event, which took place at the Boston Hotel in Zaragoza and developed until last Saturday, had the participation of more than 300 health professionals.

After the opening of the Congress, professionals and the Aragonese health service representatives discussed on the “ new health project for primary care in Aragon ”. He analysed the current situation of family medicine in the community and they have been shown the main keys to improve. For the first time the Scientific Committee of the Congress have involved members of scientific primary care and Emergency Department, as well as the Union societies doctor CesmAragón, with the intention of continuing with a formula of cooperation between all the professional organizations to develop a single Congress of all primary care Aragon.

Over three days, in which the this meeting became – again – in the crosshairs health of the autonomous community and even Spain, is favoured a comprehensive and ambitious programme of scientific events, as well as different classroom training that is announced significant developments on issues such as prevention cardiovascular or urology.

Programmed activities were divided into two large blocks. On the one hand, the classroom training whose content revolves around diseases most prevalent in primary care consultations such as heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, or depression, among many other. And on the other hand, it has organized the round table “ update in atrial fibrillation ” which aims to focus on small advances, both in the technical field such as pharmacological, being held to find a more successful outcome in the medium and long term in the treatment of this arrhythmia, the most common among the population.

In addition to a large number of posters and communications, which are unpublished works on clinical cases or health topics they presented the congressmen and defend these three days, in commemoration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Congress, health professionals have been unable to attend a large number of practical content workshops that are aimed at the recycling of certain techniques such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the attention to the serious politraumatizado, functional dressings or insulinización.

This year, as a novelty, on Saturday 12 November throughout the morning, was scheduled a specific practice for resident doctors who are doing the specialty of family and community medicine, as well as for final year medical students. The activity consists of a theoretical part which dealt with the coronary pathology and a practical part on clinical cases in emergency.

Another initiative of this year, and will continue in the following editions are also a few encounters with the different specialties whose purpose is to encourage communication between both levels of care. On this occasion we have organized a meeting with the specialty of digestive.

All Congress activities are accredited by the Commission on continuing training of the health professions of Aragon and meet the quality requirements laid down by the Diputación General de Aragón.

And for closing the Aragonese Congress of primary care, on Saturday, journalist and filmmaker Luis Alegre gave the Conference “ medical film ”. For its part, the rector of the University of Zaragoza, Manuel López, has been in charge of closing this traditional health meeting.
