– the meeting, organized by the Cluster of electronics, Informatics and telecommunications of the Basque country (also GAIA-Cluster), was held yesterday Wednesday, January 25, in the Parque Tecnológico de Zamudio

-the goal is to bring the needs of new technologies that have chronic patients to improve their autonomy and welfare agencies and to the business fabric that can develop them

– thus, during the day were presented three success stories from companies in the ICT sector with own product in e-health sector and discussed about the increase of the efficiency of the health system provided by new technologies, as well as their impact on the business sector through the development of new products and services

Spain, January 2012.- the Cluster of electronics, Informatics and telecommunications of the Basque country, GAIA-Cluster also, has organized a jornada-taller on ICTs and the chronicity which discussed the increase in the efficiency of the health system through the use of ICTs and their impact in the business.

The day took place on Wednesday, January 25, yesterday from 9.00 to 13.30 p.m. in Parque Tecnológico de Zamudio (Bldg 202) and is addressed to institutions, ministries of health, associations linked to chronic diseases, companies of technological services in the e-health segmentas well as end users.

Presentations and panel discussions organized tried to approach the companies in the sector, the needs of the users of ICTs to support autonomy and welfare applied to chronic diseases.

As explained from GAIA, is to generate a meeting place to share experiences and to analyse the present and future trends around ICT. Having all this information can be very useful for companies while increasing the functionality and the added value generated by their products and services, as well as new ones that meet those needs. This will help to raise the quality of life of chronic persons and to increase the competitiveness of the Basque business ”.

Practical experiences

During the day, were presented three success stories from companies in the ICT sector with own product that they demonstrated real solutions and serve as example to explore paths and promote public health as a whole system.

The first practical experience presented Aitor guitar, creator of www.somosmedicina.com, a blog about health outreach. In the second case, the Director of the Association of multiple sclerosis in Bizkaia, Pedro Carrascal, addressed the vision of the patient on how to improve their quality of life through the use of e-health systems and finally, exhibited the telemedicine Medical Guard service, and its implantation in patients of diabetes, hand in hand with Susana Gutiérrez, responsible for technology and solutions Bidea Avant.

Also, the meeting was the participation of the Vice-Counsellor of quality, research and health innovation in the Department of health and consumption of the Basque Government, Olga Rivera; the Director Manager of GAIA-Cluster also, Tomás Iriondo; the Managing Director of Saludnova, belonging to the MONDRAGON Corporation, Santiago Mendirichaga; Alfonso Domínguez, Tecnalia health researcher and Eneritz Elgezua of the Orue residence.
