whole Spain advanced endoscopy experts gather in Southeast

Madrid, December 2009.- The Hall of the Hospital of the Southeast has been the scene in which have brought together experts from all Spain in ERCP – endoscopic Cholangiopancreatography Retrógrada-. It is a diagnostic and therapeutic technique that avoids the conventional surgical intervention with the introduction (oral) of an endoscope to the mouth of the biliopancreático duct. Once at your destination, you can view the existing problem and even in some cases to solve it. Another possibility afforded by this technique is the take biopsies in the injured area.

The discussion and presentations on this technical point topped the first day of the course, opened by the managing director of the Southeast, Félix Bravo Sanz. doctor Bravo stressed that since the opening of the Hospital had been 74 ERCP (all through deep sedation or general anesthesia) and more than 4,800 endoscopic evidence (gastroscopias and colonoscopies). Furthermore, it noted that 95 per cent of the latter has been with sedation. Another achievement of the digestive system service is the placement of eight metal prosthesis autoexpandibles for the treatment of tumor pathology of the digestive tract.

On the second and final day of the meeting, rapporteurs put on the table the latest advances in digestive ecoendoscopia. Specifically the role of the diagnosis of this technique in the gastrointestinal pathology, the pancreatic therapeutic guided by ecoendoscopia and new applications of the ecoendoscopia and their future prospects.
