Madrid, 2011-September the Spanish Confederation of groupings of family members and persons with Mental illness (FEAFES) has sought to show their support for the mental health care model developed in Asturias in the past years, which has been described as a pioneer ” within European.

The FEAFES Confederation, comprising 285 associations of people with mental illness and family in all Spain, wanted to respond as well to recent statements by Oviedo psychiatrist Julio Bobes in a regional daily newspaper which criticized the current system of care Asturias as an antiquated model was sorry ”, using unclear arguments to qualify it for Cuban inspiration ”.
