Gijón, November 2011- Wednesday 16 November last at 9: 30 began in the Palace of congresses Exhibition Centre Luis Adaro of Gijón, the 8th National Congress of surgical nursing, organized by the Spanish Association of nursing surgical AEEQ, with the motto implementing the future ”.

The opening ceremony was attended by Carmen Moriyón, Mayor of Gijón, Alberto Fernandez, Director-General of public health of the Principality of Asturias, Angela Escribano houses, President of AEEQ and Esteban Gómez Suárez, President of this meeting and a member of the Spanish Association of nursing surgical AEEQ.

The scientific program was developed until Friday, November 18. After the official opening, Professor of the College of Gijón, Enrique Oltra Rodríguez, delivered the inaugural conference titled history of nursing. A perspective from a minor surgery ”. Then developed 4 roundtables: Fast-Track ”, ergonomics ”, skills and continuous training in surgical nursing ” and nursing surgical solidarity ”. Thursday, November 17, the program began at 9: 00 with a round table entitled transplant ”, moderated by Benjamin Otero García; Coordinator of transplants of Asturias. At 11: 00 the traumatologist Xavier Manibens Bertran, gave a lecture entitled surgical nursing in emergency humanitarian ”. Followed two conferences clinical practical guidelines for the surgical patient safety ” and surgical nursing from the perspective of the genus ”, with three round tables: grade to the specialty. The eighth edition of this annual Congress, ended last Friday 18 with a Conference legal aspects of the work in the operating room. Security and privacy ” and a roundtable health 2.0 and nursing ”. The philosopher Gustavo Bueno has been responsible for pronouncing the closing conference.

The programme included defence of posters and communications at the table, involving Assistant professionals. In this edition there have been a total of 162 communications, oral 53 and 109 poster.

The closing event, counted with the presence of Rubén Martín Payo, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Oviedo. In this Act, the Chairman of the Scientific Committee, Javier González Requejo, made reading of the conclusions of the Congress and the awards were given to the best oral and poster.

This Congress counted with the participation of more than 40 related to surgical nursing professionals, between speakers and moderators, and more than 400 attendees coming from all Spain.

This Congress is recognized of interest health by the Ministry of health, Social policy and equality and the Ministry of health of the Principality of Asturias.

National Association of surgical nursing

The AEEQ, is a non-profit association. Its main objectives are to promote the figure of the surgical nurses at the national and international levels, representing the collective of surgical nursing in different forums (Ministry, autonomous communities, international, other entities …), to encourage the relationship with other scientific societies related to the surgical patientresponding to the concerns of the surgical nursing professionals, meet the training demands of professionals and foster and generate services aimed at the partners.
