Havana 2 sep (EFE).-Mariela Castro, Director of the National Centre for sex education (Cenesex) and daughter of Cuban President Raul Castro today stressed the need to draw attention to aspects unknown of sexual health “should be raised, cared for and developed” countries.

Mariela Castro explained to Efe that this is the first year in Cuba held the “world day of the Sexual Health” and as it is dedicated to young people, a group of the social network of the Cenesex has organized a programme of activities that began Friday with the presentation of the book “AIDS: new confessions a doctor”, Jorge Pérez.

“El Cenesex has made a commitment to the World Association for Sexual health, to draw attention to many elements that you do not know and they have to do with sexual health and that they must be addressed, cared for and developed in all countries,” noted.

Indicated that within the framework of the world day, until Sunday the Cenesex program includes audiovisual sample associated with the stigma of discrimination by sexual orientation and gender identity

Also referred to a “health fair” will be developed on the walk of a central Havana Street, where meets a heterogeneous group of hundreds of young people from some time ago, in which the promoters of the Cenesex go forward that “wonder, participate as in other places in the world and take the opportunity to provide information on sexual health”.

Mariela Castro makes several years which promotes projects of legal reforms in favour of sexual minorities, including a change of the family code to enable the legal Union of homosexuals and the recognition of rights of transsexuals from the direction of the Cenesex.

In this regard, said: even “have not given us any answer about the update of the family code, we know that the preliminary draft is in the hands of the Ministry of Justice, we would like to know what they are doing and that we also consult if they had doubts, but this has not happened”.

“This is a topic that is there and we are totally absent and do not know what happens,” added.

While in the meantime, said that the Cenesex is busy to “strengthen” their lines of research, their scientific and academic areas and working on its communication strategy mainly through the media premises.

Also pointed out that they are organizing the sixth Cuban Congress of education, guidance and Sexual therapy, to be held in January 2012 prior to the Conference of the Communist Party, scheduled for later this month. EFE
