now, the drug will be developed in the country, as a public-private venture, consisting of a consortium which brings together the Ministry of health, ELEA laboratories and Maprimed (owned by the Chemo group and Roemmers) and Mundo Sano.

The drug will be available to those who need it through the public provision of medicines, carried out the national health portfolio.

“Today is a historic day in the field of public health in the Argentina, because after 60 years of strenuous efforts in the fight against Chagas disease, I am proud to say that the paíscomenzó to produce treatment for that disease”, said the Health Minister, Juan Manzur.

The first treatments are aimed at patients treated in Argentina, while that in future drugs will be sent to United States, Madrid and Barcelona in the framework of ongoing cooperation programmes, said a statement from the Ministry of health.
