The Dean of dental school of the Peru requests the President-elect to declare oral health alert

Dean of the dental school of Peru, Miguel Angel Rojas Saravia, he stated that in the presidential message of July 28 President-elect Ollanta Humala Tasso should be considered as a priority health oral in the country, because a large part of the Peruvian population is suffering from oral health problems and lack of education in this field.

“Any message the nation focuses on the oral health of the country, therefore this disease progresses significantly to cause the loss of teeth,” added the specialist, who noted that 95 per cent of the Peruvian population is suffering from decay and 60% lacked teeth.

Dean proposed a greater involvement of practitioners of dentistry in remote areas of the country and the distribution altogether pasta dental fluoride, generic toothbrushes and dental floss, which must arrive at the request of the Ministry of health, as had been done with the expansion of vaccine.

“So we will reduce the risk of tooth decay and lower disease rates to 50% in five years,” said Saravia red.

Also stressed that this is a problem that has been dragging since makes a number of Governments, but none has given due importance.

Finally the Dean of the COP invoked a dialogue with the elected Government to consider strategies of oral health in order to reduce this scourge.
