La Fundación Reina Sofia joins the FAD campaign all about alcohol ” to raise awareness among the youth.

Madrid, 2011-September La Fundación Reina Sofía has signed a collaboration agreement with the Foundation for help against drug addiction (FAD), within the framework of the campaign all about alcohol ” to raise awareness and encourage reflection on the consumption of alcohol among young people.

By virtue of that Convention, both entities will promote the joint execution of initiatives, projects and concrete actions designed to promote and enhance the educational possibilities of the parents of family and school teachers.

In particular, this agreement is part of the audiovisual project of the SDF, all about alcohol ”, a DVD which aims to raise awareness and encourage reflection on the consumption of alcohol among young people. The Fundación Reina Sofía will contribute an amount of 40,000 euros for sending 30,000 copies of the DVD 7.385 schools of secondary education Spain.

Thus, handed four copies to each school (to the director, the counselor and the Association of mothers and parents of students), accompanied by a letter explaining the project. The distribution will take place in the first quarter of 2011-2012 school year.

The Fundación Reina Sofía is committed to make an economic contribution to the FAD of 40,000 euros to deal with the editing and distribution in schools of secondary education of 30,000 units of DVD all about Alcohol ”.

Among the purposes of the Foundation Reina Sofia are, among others, promote and encourage the study of the needs of man in its individual, both physical and intellectual and spiritual reality; the promotion, encouragement and protection of health care, social or educational institutions; Prevention and treatment of juvenile delinquency; as well as the realization and promotion of activities that contribute to the relations of the Spanish people with other peoples.

Bank of memories

This year the Foundation Queen Sofia has stepped up its work, within the framework of the international year of the 2011 Alzheimer, in order to contribute to raise awareness of the importance of investment in scientific research to advance the fight against Alzheimer’s and related neurodegenerative diseases.

Among his recent projects, highlights the launch of Bank of memories ”. It’s a virtual space created to keep all the memories donated by anonymous people, familiar faces and people in the first phase of the disease.

Through the campaign, anyone can collaborate with this initiative by donating one of his favorite memories, through a photo, a video or write a letter. They will also have the possibility of collaborating sponsoring one of memories previously donated by another person, through a sum of money that will go entirely to Alzheimer disease research.

It’s an award, in the framework of the international year of 2011 Alzheimer, organized by the Foundation. Scientific and international projection, this event was created to promote research into Alzheimer’s disease and neurodegenerative diseases, advancing the knowledge of its causes, improve early diagnosis and to find effective treatments.

This initiative, which will culminate in the convening in Madrid, on 22 and 23 September 2011, the International Congress on research in Alzheimer’s disease Global Alzheimer ’ s Research Summit ”, has the support of the Ministry of science and innovation, of the Ministry of health and Social policy, the Ministry of economy and Finance of the Foundation Center of neurological diseases and the Instituto de Salud Carlos III.
