The first edition of this award has the deadline for registration open until June 30.

Madrid, February 2010. Continuous period open to participate in the I Prize journalistic health and work organized by the Abbott Foundation, Fundación Ramón Areces, the Spanish society of Rheumatology and the Spanish Forum of patients. This award aims to recognize the work of journalists and the media in the dissemination and approach to public opinion in rheumatic diseases and its consequences socio-labour. In this event, which was launched last October, they can participate articles and published reports, whether in print, online media, radio or television, during the period from October 8, 2009 and June 30, 2010.

The award is endowed with a scholarship of € 6,000 for the development of training activities in the journalistic field. That article or report that best reflected the social reality of rheumatic diseases will be awarded. Thus, articles should focus is knowledge of Spanish society about whole rheumatic diseases or any of their pathologies in particular, as well as the consequences in social and labour from this type of disease, both for those affected and their families.

The jury that will decide the award-winning work is headed by Jordi Sevilla, former Minister of public administrations and former Deputy in the Cortes Generales. Each author may present a maximum of five papers and accompanied by the corresponding translation should be submitted in Spanish or in official languages of the Spanish State.

To participate you must fill a form which can be found on the website of the Abbott Foundation, and accept the bases present in the form. Once registered on the web and accepted baselines, original works will be transmitted with a copy of the data requested in the form to the Secretariat of the prize.
