MADRID, 1 ( EUROPA PRESS)

Nearly 50 percent of all skin cancers “are corrected with creams that enhance the immune defenses, says the Honorary President of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venerology ( AEDV), dermatologist Julián rabbit-Mir. In his view, this new therapy makes cells of the organism “loading tumor”.

So far, once of skin cancer in a patient is detected, spent for the operating room, something which “no longer the case”, says the specialist. For him, “is an aberration” which apply chemotherapy to patients, as “it destroys the defences”. In your opinion, what we need to do is “strengthen the defense system to destroy tumors.” “This is the line that is now working at any type of cancer,” statement.

In addition, rabbit-Mir has explained to Europa Press that “there are already marketed sunscreens that arranged the guard immune skin, the p53 protein”. They “are worth more or less the same that absorb light and those that reflect”, which “does not protect or with 50 per cent of effectiveness”, indicates.

Skin cancer originates in the people by a failure in this protein because of solar radiation or a predisposition genetics. “This mutation have it between 20 and 30 percent of the population”, warns expert. In response, his advice is “avoid prolonged exposure to the Sun”, since this is “the most important cause of cancer”.

On the other hand, emphasizes the rapid diagnosis of people with the gene distorted as one of the keys to a good treatment. However, it regrets that the trial not be routinely because “it is very expensive”. Thus, the resulting option is “investigate asking the patient if he has a record, if it takes much the Sun and if burned to do so”.

For rabbit-Mir, this is important because persons with a history of melanoma “have 500 times more likely to develop cancer than have a person with a healthy family”. In his view, campaigns have been doing during the past 20 years, but “still the human being still favouring us skin cancer.” “It is the most frequent among the population”, holds.

Between 3 and 5% of the population suffers from this TUMOR

In fact, “between 30 and 80 percent of people older than 50 years has cancer or pre-cancer skin,” he says. However, it considered that “the tumor as such only present him between 3 and 5 percent of the people”. In his view, suffering or not “varies greatly depending on the type of skin and the habits of the person”.

As for melanoma, stresses that “it is quite unusual,” presenting figures of people affected by “80 per 100,000 inhabitants”. In addition, the mortality rate is not excessively high, since only die “15 percent of cancer patients”, points out.

However, blamed for rabbit-Mir so far this data in part to the lack of awareness of citizens. According to a study by the AEDV, “60 percent of the people know that the Sun is harmful to the skin, but or 40 percent of the people who go to the beach used the protector or even taking it”. The positive side to the dermatologist is that “80 per cent gets it to their children”, meaning that “you are inducing habits to children”, he explains.

In how to fend off the Sun, considers that the tube of sunscreen “should last 15 days per person”, something which is not met because “used for the whole family and is expected to last throughout the summer”. At its discretion, “the protector should be applied generously at the rate of 2 milligrams per square centimeter”.

Finally, the Honorary President of the AEDV and former President of the Academy has urged Europa Press the importance of protect from the Sun at any time of the year. “in spring, the Sun we can damage equal to that in summer, we are exposed to him to not give us more time there of that Burns”, espeta.

For this reason, and to raise awareness in society, the AEDV is going to develop the campaign ' Euromelanoma ', by which every 30 days will launch a warning message that will end in June on the occasion of the month of skin cancer. When the summer is reached, rabbit-Mir recommends going to the beach snack bar with more Sun hours. “Should be recognized as a site of national public health”, concludes.
