-la Réunion in Pamplona is a date for the meeting of professionals in surgery in our country

Pamplona, November 2011- AstraZeneca and ACS (Spanish Association of Surgeons) presented the second edition of the guide in colorectal surgery as part of the 18th National meeting of the AEC. This new edition comes ten years after the publication of the first and updated knowledge in the field of colorectal surgery after an important development in recent years.

The Guide, which is aimed mainly at colorectal surgeons and residents, is also a manual of knowledge to all professionals who wish to be aware of developments in colorectal surgery.

The Guide responds to the need for a re-release which updated treatments, diagnoses or procedures which were obsolete and that it was necessary to adapt. In the words of the Coordinator of the new guide and former President of the SRA, Dr. Héctor Ortiz: guide was needed, especially after the experienced progress, including: the treatment of diseases such as Crohn’s or ulcerative colitis and colorectal cancer, as well as the diagnostic or surgical technique ”.

Specialists who have collaborated in this guide are first level colorectal surgery professionals and have multiple previous publications in many topics addressed.

The incorporation of contents that highlight the importance of multidisciplinary teams composed by pathologists, oncologists, surgeons and nurses is one of the most prominent in colorectal surgery changes. In our country, the multidisciplinary teams are already a fact and there are many hospitals that already have them to treat their patients.
