The mental control of the respiratory rhythm through Visual and auditory signals improves health.

The mind control of the respiratory rhythm through Visual and auditory signals improves health.

is the mind capable of improving and maintaining good health? Since medical advances (AMSA) ensures that Yes.

, Biofeedback techniques allow patients, by electronic instruments that generate auditory or Visual signals have aware of the physiological and biological changes that experimenting with psychological stimuli unconsciously

– with these techniques, the patient can modify their own organic States to control their normal functioning, and get training when a voluntary control without the use of these instruments

-the Biofeedback is giving good results in the treatment of problems such as asthma, depression or panic in a period of three months attacks

Bilbao, October 2011.- how does our body react to our thoughts? is the mind capable of improving and maintaining good health? From medical advances (AMSA) say yes, because that mental control over the vital signs decisively influencing biological processes of our body. The Biofeedback can measure this control, analyzing reactions mainly in cardiorespiratory rhythm. “ We are questioning the Cartesian duality between body and mind through this technical control of our vital signs learning revolutionary ”, claim from the medical services company.

Dr. Paul Lehrer, Professor of the Department of Psychiatry of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and renowned specialist at the international level in the use of this system, has been invited as a teacher at the Symposium “ interventions in the fribromialgia and complex somatic disorders ” organized by AMSA. During the same, to be held tomorrow Tuesday, 11 October at 18.00 hours on the College’s official doctors of Biscay will impart a conference under the title “ interventions Psychophysiological in Psychosomatic Medicine ”. Paul Lehrer has defined the treatment with Biofeedback as “a technique of learning that increases the capacity of the person to voluntarily control physiological activities by the fact of providing information on such activities”.

According to Dr. Lehrer, biofeedback training allows you to tune in to the patient with their bodily functions, and to control them through an apprenticeship. “ El Biofeedback gives us information on the patient by means of external instruments, measuring the respiration rate, temperature, or heart rate. With this information, patients with chronic pain, asthma, anxiety, headache, hypertension, or incontinence can be recognized as they affect your emotions and thoughts in your body to improve its symptoms ”, says Dr Lehrer.

The relaxation to stimulation monitored

The expert explains that a typical session of the Biofeedback begins with the patient accommodating is, and connects it to one or several instruments of Biofeedback. The electrical impulses from these locations are recorded and are reflected in a monitor of the computer in the form of graphics, that transform the information received in algorithms, which later verified with a series of patterns to find similarities. “ Patient can recognize Visual or auditory signals that notifies you of changes in physiological after receiving psychological stimuli ”, concludes.

According to Dr. Leher, before starting the training is expected to the patient to relax, to take an initial registration of physiological activity. Later, after a study of the relationship between cardiac and respiratory rhythms, establishes a set of guidelines that the patient must go exercising outside the query, at least thirty minutes a day. “ normally, you will be shown the patient during a meeting of four hours, as a personal trainer, how should perform these exercises, showing the benefits that they have on their body with the Biofeedback ”, explains the expert. These exercises can be performed, according to the expert, without any special meter, although it recommended the use of small gauges of the heartbeat for greater efficiency.

Dr. Lehrer concludes stating that the control of respiration in patients with asthma has deleted almost at once the occurrence of attacks and reduced pharmacological treatment. “ Over a period of three months, the results of improvement among patients suffering from asthma or depressions are statistically significant ”, says the expert.

Finally, from AMSA ensures that Biofeedback training is beneficial for a wide range of problems without the use of drugs. “ Arouses the possibility that we have to make changes that last in our bodies and minds and gives us the opportunity to have effective techniques for confronting our stressful life events ”, conclude from the Medical Center.

Biofeedback methods

Biofeedback controls various parameters. The most common are temperature, as measured by sensors placed on the fingers of the patient, indicates the contraction or relaxation of the smooth muscle surrounding the blood vessels, which determine the amount of blood flowing into the pads of the fingers ”; the EDA or Electrodermal activity is measured by a device that records the GSR (response psicogalvánica of the skin), which measures the activity of the sweat glands. “ The majority of the people is to familiarize yourself with cold and wet hands under circumstances that are stressful, such as meet with strangers or having to expose in public ”, say specialists.

Finally, the heart rate is measured in heartbeats per minute. “ The fast heart rhythms are often caused by tension, as for example when we are scared ”, say from AMSA. Heart rate is measured also through the pads of the fingers, and attempts to stabilize during the training sessions with Biofeedback among the 56 and 66 beats per minute ”.

New research reaffirms safety of aspirin r. profile

the publication of a meta-analysis of 67 tests reaffirms the safety profile of aspirin for pain and fever.
Barcelona, 2011-October new meta-analysis published in the journal Drugs in R & D reaffirms the safety profile of aspirin in the treatment of acute pain of mild or moderate character, and fever associated with influenza and colds. Analysis of individual patient data, 67 revised clinical trials is the relevant has done to date, because it covers 20 years of research on the treatment of acute pain to single-dose.

The analysis of patient data showed very few gastrointestinal side effects or complications associated with the use of the acid acetylsalicylic in apparently healthy people, with an average age of 32.9 years and without known risk of gastrointestinal complications. The results showed that there was only an additional gastrointestinal adverse effect for every 111 patients treated with aspirin, with one dose usually between 500 and 1,000 milligrams, compared with placebo (9.9 to 9.0%, p < 0.01). The results are consistent with those presented in earlier published analysis. In addition, there were no significant differences with regard to the cases of gastrointestinal adverse effects in patients treated with acetylsalicylic acid compared to ibuprofen or paracetamol.

“ The results of the new analysis in seemingly healthy people, with an average age of 32.9 years is reassuring both for doctors and the millions of people who take aspirin to single-relieving dose, short-term, symptoms of pain, fever, or discomfort associated with the cold and flu ” said Dr. Angel Lanas, digestive system specialist, and doctor of Medicine of the University of Zaragoza and lead author of the study, says: “ in our meta-analysis, there was a low incidence of patients with adverse effects, including gastrointestinal complications, and an almost total absence of complications associated with the dose and the effect of acetylsalicylic acid in relieving pain symptoms, fever or malaise produced by the flu or cold ”.

The results of patients in meta-analysis showed that the overall risk of gastrointestinal problems with aspirin was low, with a small, but statistically higher risk of dyspepsia or stomachache, compared to placebo. Serious adverse cases were very few (one with aspirin versus three placebo), and there were no differences in adverse cases of type not gastrointestinal.

“ This analysis reaffirms the safety profile of the use of a single dose of aspirin to eliminate short-term, pain and fever ”, said Dr. wools.

The study

“ The use of aspirin in the short term for the pain and symptoms of a cold: gastrointestinal adverse effects ” is the title of the meta-analysis which includes information from 67 clinical trials involving more than 13,000 patients, with an average age of 32.9 yearsof whom 6.181 were treated with aspirin or a combination of aspirin and 3.515 placebo. In cases where aspirin has been used:

-82.5 per cent were single-dose (usually between 500 to 1,000 milligrams)
-17.5% received multiple doses
-3% received treatment for more than five days

the results showed that there was only an additional gastrointestinal adverse effect for every 111 patients treated with aspirin, compared with placebo (9.9 from the 9.0%, p < 0.01). There were no significant differences with regard to the cases of gastrointestinal adverse effects treated with acetylsalicylic acid compared to ibuprofen or paracetamol. Only for MedDRA (medical dictionary of drugs regulatory activities) dyspepsia recorded a slight increase in comparison with paracetamol.

Meta-analysis was funded by Bayer HealthCare and includes individual data obtained from studies conducted by Bayer HealthCare.
