-the aim of this literary competition is to raise awareness of the impact of chronic diseases more emotional and humane perspective.

-Carmen Posadas will be, for the second year, President of a multidisciplinary jurors assessed the literary quality of the stories and informative capacity.

Madrid, April 2012.- With the aim to make known the human dimension of chronic diseases, the Abbott Foundation has called for the second consecutive year the contest of stories on chronic disease. It’s a literary competition open to the participation of anyone wishing to show experiences or emotions related with any chronic disease. An opportunity to ensure that patients and their families, health professionals and general population can project in a story with informative purposes, individual, family and social diseases such mainstreaming.

For the election of the stories winners and finalists has appointed a multi-disciplinary jury assessed both literary quality and its informative value. To do so, has selected relevant characters from fields like literature, medicine, journalism, politics or patients associations. In particular, they are part of the jury the writer Carmen Posadas; the President of the Commission of health and services social of the Congress of Deputies, Mario Mingo; the Member of the Real Academia Española José Manuel Sánchez Ron; the President of the Spanish society of Rheumatology, Eduardo Úcar; the President of the Alliance of patients, Alejandro Toledo; and the vowel of the Madrid Press Association, Mª Teresa Antona. The Secretary of the jury will be Antonio Bañares, General Director of the Abbott Foundation.

The event will feature a top prize of € 3,000 for the winner and two second prize of £ 1,000 each. Accounts, which should have a maximum length of 12 numbered pages written Din A4 size to double space, can be sent from today either by email to certamenrelatos@ketchum.es as physically to the direction of the technical secretariat (contest accounts disease chronic/Ketchum fan – c / Luchana)23. (28010 Madrid). The deadline for submission of the accounts will be open until September 15, 2012.
