Barcelona, 15 nov (EFE).-the Balearic Government, Francesc Homs, spokesman has described the strike which the Union of doctors of Catalonia has called for today and tomorrow as a “mistake and a failure” for his “under follow-up”, that has been encrypted between 16% and 20%, and because, as he assured, “will not serve for nothing”.

Homs, which rated the strike at the press conference following the meeting of the Executive Council has considered that although the objection of doctors is “legitimate”, these professionals demand, said, “unacceptable” wage conditions in the context of crisis, by which, in his view, the complaint is “incomprehensible” when current.

Doctors in public and concerted health centres have initiated at eight this morning a two-day strike called by the Trade Union doctors of Catalonia against the cuts in health care and to demand the Generalitat restoration of budgets and health care 2010 activity.

Homs, who has expressed the solidarity of the Balearic Government with patients affected by the strike, has held that trade unions UGT and CCOO have not given support to the call of the Union of physicians and has insisted that the Executive remains open to dialogue but stressed, “where it should be made, that is at the negotiating table”.

Spokesman, asked if the budgets of 2012 will include further cuts in health, has limited itself to saying that “not will affect the healthcare organization that people perceive”.

Likewise, Hims has considered that the reason why the Union of doctors of Catalonia has called the strike today is purely wage, and has rejected on the grounds that led to these professionals to protest included also other adjustment measures budget.

“I understand that this Union, with few expectations of success that had the call, try to build another order speeches, but they ask are wage conditions unacceptable in the current economic context”, has been put forward.

In this sense, Homs, has thanked the other unions and health workers “constructive attitude” not to support the strike, has warned that the fact that trade unions UGT and CCOO “give back to this protest, should open our eyes a lot of people”.

“Their unacceptable salary approaches in crisis should help explain why UGT and CCOO have not supported this strike,” has been riveting.

Asked about the absence of the Minister of health, Boi Ruiz, at the press conference following the Executive Council on the day of the strike by doctors, Homs reminded that he is “who tend to appear every Tuesday at this hour”.

In addition, Homs has pointed out that the Department of health is giving explanations on the strike from early in the morning, and has ensured that Boi Ruiz appear to make an assessment of the protest.

Asked about the position of the Government regarding the case of the patient of Girona a stroke who died after four public for 65 hours hospitals affected, Homs confined itself to close ranks in lathe workforce of Catalonia and has stressed that the Government has “full confidence” in these professionals.

“En Cataluña serve each month to 270,000 people in public emergencies, which means 6 people per minute;” “with these numbers, many things can happen, and if to this we do not trust the medical approach, which is that has to examine whether he has done well, we are lost,” has underlined.

“We understand that in some cases family members have the feeling, that we have all had ever, that something could have been done differently, and presented demands, but public health get you 360 annual demands, both in times of crisis and in good times;” “faced with this situation the Government only may be next to doctors”, has been completed.
