Torrevieja, 2012-June the unit of Hospital to home of the Department of health of Torrevieja has provided health care to 847 patients during the past year 2011.

The unit of Hospital at home is one of the resources involved inside of the Plan for the improvement of the care home in the Comunitat Valenciana ” and its commissioning has enabled that patients of different pathologies should be dispensed to go to the hospital and receive care in their own home.

The UHDTV has contributed to enhancing the quality of life of patients undergoing complicated surgery or palliative patients mostly with patients, chronic pathologies.

Thus, health professionals of the Center Unit carried out follow-up at home in patients who still need own hospital care for a period limited until its final high.

Among the portfolio of services of this unit also is the implementation of diagnostic procedures and therapeutic complexes in the same domicile, as non-invasive, the use of specific systems for the management of complex cures or specific devices for the management of symptoms of patients in the final stages of his disease could be mechanical ventilationthe administration of intravenous antibiotics or realization of paracentesis, among others. For its operation, the UHDTV uses medical hospital technology adapted to the home.

Other data that highlight the activities carried out by this unit during the past year is the number of visits by nursing staff, exceeding the 5,800, and by optional, exceeding the 1,100.
