The Hospital del Sureste drives improvements in the techniques of endoscopy.

thanks to the consolidation of the ERCP.

Madrid, December 2011.- El Hospital del Sureste has held the II Jornada update in sedation, eRCP and digestive Ecoendoscopia in which experts from all Spain put in common the latest advances in Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (Ercp).

The ERCP is an endoscopic technique for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases biliopancreáticas as tumors of pancreas and bile duct or choledocholithiasis, fundamentally. Its extension in hospitals has allowed to replace the realization of complex surgeries, thereby improving the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

The Hospital del Sureste has implemented two years ago this technique, which has already treated nearly 300 patients, managing to avoid the displacement to other Madrid health centres of reference and speeding up medical care.

Digestive service performed with sedation all colonoscopies and up to 50% of the gastroscopias, the quality of care measures implemented to improve patient care.

The experts meeting in the day – supported by the Spanish society of digestive endoscopy and accredited by the Agency Laín Entralgo – have also analysed the importance and results of the different types of sedation with these techniques and the use of the ecoendoscopia.
