The SEN will create a Committee to analyze the recent dismissals of neurologists in Catalonia and to report to the Board directive.

Spain, 2011-December before the recent dismissal of several neurologists with permanent contracts in Catalonia, as well as the disappearance of one of the Ictus units that had the community, the Sociedad Española de Neurología (SEN), through its strategic policy responsibilityIt has decided to create a Special Commission which will be in charge of analyzing these facts, as well as ensuring that cuts that are being subjected the Catalan health system does not entail a decrease in the quality of services leading to other specialists.

Put that according to the Spanish society of Neurology, over 1,200,000 Catalans suffer any neurological disease – data that it will significantly increase in the coming years due to the progressive ageing of the population and that 1 of every 6 Catalans are at risk for a strokethe SEN believes that these cuts can seriously influence the attention that was giving to these patients.

The Commission special of the Spanish Neurology society, which will be completed in the coming days, will closely monitor all those aspects likely to present a decrease in health services and that may lead to possible deficiencies of the system and delays in the Catalan patient care, especially in cases involving urgent care.
