Cardiologists and family physicians narrow relations.

-the Spanish Cardiology Society (SEC) and the Spanish society of family and community (semFYC) medicine sign a collaboration agreement

-The agreement responds to the need for synergies between both specialties to create scenarios of support in the fields of training and research, professional quality assurance processes, as well as other points of common interest

-the compromise between the SEC and the semFYC will allow the exchange of information between both societies, the development of actions aimed at enhancing the training of partners and their professional competence, the Organization of research activities and the holding of seminars, courses and joint conferences

-this collaboration, which will have a duration of at least three years, benefit, both to members of the SEC and the semFYC, as to patients who both specialties care

Madrid, March 2012.- the Spanish Cardiology Society (SEC) and the Spanish society of family and community (semFYC) medicine have signed, the past 15 Thursday, a collaboration agreement with which intend to establish common relationship points to promote the teaching and research of its partners to improvewell, professional competence.

Closer relations between these two scientific societies, non-profit, it is becoming increasingly more appropriate and necessary due to growing multidisciplinarity of the sciences and the ceaseless changes and technological advances that have been happening in recent times.

The agreement between the SEC and the semFYC will benefit, not only to the SEC and the semFYC partners, but also to patients struggling with both specialties, facilitating, among other things: participation in meetings of their respective conferences, the realization of joint scientific meetings, the Organization of actions on issues related to the training of specialistsobtaining financing for the realization of joint research projects and endowment of scholarships, the development of actions between the two societies in relation to agencies and national and international institutions or the establishment of links between the respective web pages.

For the implementation and follow-up of this cooperation agreement, which will take at least one duration of three years, will act as a joint monitoring Committee, which shall consist of two representatives of each society appointed by their respective boards and annually chaired alternatively by the Chairman of the SECDr. Vicente Bertomeu and the President of the semFYC, Dr. Josep Basrah Gallisà, those who have come to personally sign the Convention.

For the SEC, the signing of this agreement with the semFYC is very important, because it’s two specialties that often must work hand in hand, and an agreement that allows us to interact more regularly between various professionals will be a visible improvement in the quality of the diagnosis and treatment of our patients ”, points out Dr. Bertomeu.

For its part, the Basra doctor says that, the family physician has a key role in the early detection of patients with high cardiovascular risk and in the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits. That is why it is key that we maintain a communication and close collaboration with the cardiologists and, in this regard, an agreement of this kind will facilitate better coordination between the two, which will certainly mean a better quality of care ”.
